Who do we and don't we trust in the media?

Colleagues and scholars from coast to coast, across Bass Strait and all the ships at sea.

Dateline: Australia, Media Trust, July 2015.

Trust is defined as the "firm belief in the reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something".

In the United States, Walter Cronkite was long considered "The most trusted man in America".

This research confirms his standing amongst his peers:

So powerful was his influence, that in a report he made from Vietnam in February 1968 for CBS he came to the conclusion that the war was a stalemate and probably unwinnable, which was contrary to what the Johnson Administration had been assuring the American public.

President Lyndon Johnson is reported to have lamented, "If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost middle America."

So who do we and don't we trust in Australia when it comes to media and media identities?
